If I were interested, I could put it in the latest versions and solve it even faster, but I'm not, because I think it would be a waste of time. The ability to solve forced mates quickly doesn't say much about chessplaying ability. Ed didn't say anything about the conditions, and posted a bunch of mate in x position. So I guess the idea is to see who can find the mates the fastest. My program has a matefinding mode, so I used that. If I wanted even faster times, I could have tried different settings on each position and possibly get even faster results, but I didn't, because I think the results were good enough. >I guess that if the target is to solve mate then Ed could also develop a better >program. He is free to try. I already challenged Johan De Koning to make a better crazyhouse program once, but he wasn't interested. -- GCP
