Fide's list of the top 100 players has some interesting attributes:

1) 3 of the top 4 players in the world have first names that begin with V.

2) 11 of the top 19 players have first names that begin with either the letter A
or the letter V.  58% of of the top players are using opnly 7.7% of the
alphabet!

For almost 30 years, at or near the very top were players named Karpov,
Korchnoi, Kasparov, Kramnik, and Kamsky.  After Fischer "retired", for years and
years the top two were Karpov and Korchnoi.  Now they are Kasparov and Kramnik.
Khalifman and Karpov are in the top 15.  So while you are changing your first
name to begin with "V" or "A", you might also want to change your last name to
begin with "K".
