aloha! it seems that in vincents original post things quickly got off-topic :-) my last experience with a trial version of intel C compiler was 520kN/s instead of 440 kN/s with my checkers program. ~15% faster. this only happened after i turned on the profile-guided optimization. vincent claimed that intel C compiler was only 3.5% faster for his program. does anybody else have numbers on this? cheers martin
