Subject: Chess software and books or music

why is lending a piece of software to a friend, without charging money,
considered a crime similar to stealing merchandise from a grocery store, but
lending a novel to read to a friend or a music CD to listen is considered OK?

I challenge all the people who rail against lending software to friends for
personal use to swear and say that never in their lives have they ever borrowed
or lent a book to anyone in their lives

If not then it is hypocrisy
