Well, I have the results from Der Bringer on A P3 650. I find it interesting that it takes 56 minutes and 600,000,000 positions to finally realize that it is a sure thing. Hiarcs in 29 seconds, searching about the same speed, seems pretty impressive. Of course, Deeper Blue would search this many positions in 3 seconds, and would no doubt find it by then. But since I can't get that one, I'll try Hiarcs 8, I think. I haven't updated Hiarcs since version 6, when KK was hyping it here in '97. Here's Der Bringer's logfile: ============ Weiß / white am Zug / to move === . wS wD . . . . . sK . sB . sB . . . . . . . . . . sB sB wB . . wB . wB . . . wB . . . . . . . sB sD . . . . . sS . . . . . . . . . . . . wK . target response time (ms): -1 max. response time (ms): -1 Static score: mat = -100, pos = 23, total = -77 0:00:00.0 ( 3/15) 11704 0.01 1.Nc6+ Kb6 2.Qb8+ Kc5 3.Qxc7 0:00:00.2 ( 4/17) 42063 -0.10 1.Qxc7+ (Mat=0,50=0) 0:00:00.3 ( 4/17) 54961 0.01 1.b6+ (Mat=-100,50=0) 0:00:00.4 ( 4/17) 62848 0.13 1.b6+ Kxb6 2.Qa6+ Kc5 3.Qxa5+ Kd4 4.gxh6 Qxc4 (Mat=-100,50=0) 0:00:00.6 ( 5/21) 94857 -0.17 1.b6+ Kxb6 2.Qa6+ Kc5 3.Qxa5+ Kd4 4.Nc6+ Ke4 5.gxh6 (Mat=0,50=0) 0:00:01.0 ( 5/21) 158123 -0.16 1.Qxc7+ (Mat=0,50=0) 0:00:01.3 ( 5/21) 179655 0.00 1.Qxc7+ Ka8 2.Qxa5+ Kxb8 3.Qb6+ (Mat=-235,50=1) 0:00:02.8 ( 6/25) 420212 0.00 1.Qxc7+ Ka8 2.Qxa5+ Kxb8 3.Qb6+ Ka8 4.Qa6+ Kb8 (Mat=-235,50=4) 0:00:07.3 ( 7/28) 1118108 0.00 1.Qxc7+ Ka8 2.Qxa5+ Kxb8 3.Qb6+ Ka8 4.Qa6+ Kb8 5.Qb6+ Ka8 6.Qa6+ Kb8 7.Qb6+ (Mat=-235,50=9) 0:00:21.1 ( 8/30) 3554122 0.00 1.Qxc7+ Ka8 2.Qxa5+ Kxb8 3.Qb6+ Ka8 4.Qa6+ Kb8 0:01:11.5 ( 9/34) 12350910 0.00 1.Qxc7+ Ka8 2.Qxa5+ Kxb8 3.Qb6+ Ka8 4.Qa6+ Kb8 5.Qb6+ Ka8 6.Qa6+ Kb8 7.Qb6+ (Mat=-235,50=9) 0:04:36.8 (10/38) 48197005 0.00 1.Qxc7+ Ka8 2.Qxa5+ Kxb8 3.Qb6+ Ka8 4.Qa6+ Kb8 5.Qb6+ Ka8 6.Qa6+ Kb8 7.Qb6+ (Mat=-235,50=9) 0:17:06.9 (11/46) 177308957 0.00 1.Qxc7+ Ka8 2.Qxa5+ Kxb8 3.Qb6+ Ka8 4.Qa6+ Kb8 5.Qb6+ Ka8 6.Qa6+ Kb8 7.Qb6+ (Mat=-235,50=9) 0:20:29.5 (11/46) 210661608 0.01 1.b6+ (Mat=-100,50=0) 0:20:30.2 (11/46) 210823639 0.51 1.b6+ (Mat=-100,50=0) 0:47:01.7 (12/46) 485393839 0.91 1.b6+ (Mat=-100,50=0) 0:47:05.4 (12/46) 486065057 1.31 1.b6+ (Mat=-100,50=0) 0:56:18.5 (12/50) 600312267 29.00 1.b6+ Kxb6 2.Qa6+ Kc5 (Mat=-200,50=2) kp
