I posted here a while back, I went to 10k SCSI drives, and EGTB access speed up about 14% and eval speeded up about 8%. 7200 IDE is crap. ATA100 or not. Slater Wold that has not been my experience. the latest ide drives are badfast, reliable, quiet, cool and affordable. scsi may be a little faster. with the fastest ide drives that have the large cache, there will be very little difference in a game or test position. post a test position with your smp scsi, and we will compare to my smp IDE times. it seems like we just did a comparison of our two systems---according to your post it was awfully close. good reading at Tom's comparing scsi to ide. http://www6.tomshardware.com/storage/01q1/010129/index.html http://www6.tomshardware.com/storage/02q1/020305/index.html http://www6.tomshardware.com/storage/02q1/020117/index.html http://www6.tomshardware.com/storage/01q4/011120/index.html kburcham
