Hi Jerry,
I also use a terrific chess client called "Thief 1.0". It is totaly configurable
and has many chess sets to choose from. The chess board is very nice after you
configure it with your own square colors etc. This new version was just released
and you can display multible boards for watching several games at the same time!
It is excellent for playing bughouse and all those other basterized chess games.

The problem you are having with "US Chess Live" is that they don't allow you to
use any other chess client but their own if you are a "non-paying member". They
use to allow it but no longer. If you become a paying member (Royal they call it
-then you will be allowed to use some of the other chess clients!

The main reason for this is that they want you to join as a Royal member which
will cost you $59.95 per year and if you are a USCF member it will cost $29.95.

If you are a non-paying member you can download their chess client and they will
allow you to play around 12 rated games per day and unlimited amount of games
for unrated! (Though every Friday they allow unlimited rated games)

Good Luck,
Terry
