But as with any other GUI and engine combination, making sure that the setup is fully functioning is vital. There have been a tendency to post games that haven't undergone a rudimentary check for errors. That is a user mistake and (most often) not a GUI or engine problem. Especially in this case where the output isn't endless log or debug files. I imagine that can be rather annnoying for engine authors en masse. However, the Arena GUI is fully capable of running engine matches if configured correctly. Not different from WinBoard, which is the interface I prefer. Arena does have a few nice features that I find useful. Stigmatizing it is therefore a rather exaggerated reaction. Regards, Mogens
