Hi Dr.Hyatt When I disable Book.bin by renaming it to Book.bin0, Crafty runs fine even without book. But when it uses Book.bin, Winboard crashes immediately : "Program was excited unexpectedly" . I built Book.bin from a PGN file that was optimized by Paul Onstad's Normal 32 : http://pgn.freeservers.com/ Thus the game histories are e.g. 1.e4 e5 instead of the usual 1. e4 e5 There is no space after [move number][dot] Also, most headers were stripped : [Event ] [Result "1-0"] [WhiteElo "2400"] [BlackElo "2420"] 1.e4 e5 Which other headers are indispensible ?
