4 seconds it is not bad result - I think :-) If program can solve it below 10 second for me is not amateur. For example GNU Chess have got strange problems with this positions, but for Phalanx or any commercial program it is not very difficult problems. P.S. Armageddon is my program. It is amateur :-) My log files (on PII350): depth time nodes score variation ------------------------------------------- 4 0 32645 642 a4c4 e8g6 f6g7 f8g7 5 0 47790 617 a4c4 e8g6 f6g7 f8g7 c4c8 a8c8 c1c6 5 1 113700 103 a4c4 e8h5 f6h4 h5h4 b5d6 5 3 252391 258 f6h4 c8d7 h4e7 d7b5 e7f8 5 6 528533 399 d3f4 e5f4 a4c4 e8g6 f6g7 f8g7 b5d4 5 6 573825 431 b5c7 e8h5 f6h4 h5h4 c7a8 5 7 632420 431 b5c7 e8h5 f6h4 h5h4 c7a8 6 7 654095 456 b5c7 e8h5 f6h4 h5h4 c7a8 e7d5 6 7 691845 473 b5c7 e8a4 b3a4 a8b8 c7b5 g7g6 f6e7 7 10 1013299 448 b5c7 e8h5 f6h4 h5h4 d3e5 7 22 2209232 -42992 b5c7 e8h5 f6h4 h5h4 f1d1 h4h2 g1f1 h2h1 f1g1 c8d7 7 40 3856952 83 d3e5 e8h5 f6h4 h5h4 e5g4 c8g4 f3g4 7 1.9 6426972 264 d3f4 e5f4 b5c7 e8a4 b3a4 a8b8 c7b5 g7g6 f6e7 second position depth time nodes score variation ------------------------------------------- 4 0 34172 502 f2g3 d6g3 g1h1 g7e5 a7g1 g3g2 5 0 44765 477 f2g3 d6g3 g1h1 g7e5 a7g1 h3g2 b7g2 g3h4 g1h2 h4e7 5 1 107935 434 f2g3 d6g3 g1h1 g7e5 a7g1 h3g2 b7g2 g3h4 g1h2 h4e7 6 2 166625 409 f2g3 d6g3 g1h1 g7e5 a7g1 h3e6 e7f5 g6f5 6 4 334863 372 f2g3 d6g3 g1h1 g7e5 a7g1 h3e6 e7g6 f7g6 g1c5 7 6 434116 347 f2g3 d6g3 g1h1 g7e5 a7g1 h3e6 e7g6 f7g6 g1c5 7 19 1496826 244 f2g3 d6g3 g1h1 g7e5 a7g1 h3e6 e7g6 f7g6 b7b4 g3h3 7 44 3700185 248 c1c2 g7f6 e7d5 h3f5 a7c5 g3e2 g1f1 d6e5 8 1.0 5239557 233 c1c2 g7f6 b7f3 d6e7 f3g3 h3f5 a7c5 f5c2 c5e7 8 1.12 6369533 244 f2g3 d6g3 9 1.46 9309348 219 f2g3 d6g3 g1h1 g7e5 a7g1 h3e6 e7g6 f7g6 b7h7 h8h7 c1c7 e5c7 g1d4 9 2.52 15576796 243 c1c2 g3f1 b7c7 d6c7 c2c7 g7e5 c7b7 f1d2 b1d1 d2e4 >Hi, > >I'm not sure I understand the question about being amateur, but PostModernist >gets both of these in 4 seconds. > >Andrew > >PS Which engine is yours?
