I would have to check my facts, but I think CB wanted to use HW that most people would have access to and also use the Deep programs. I am not a fan of the Deep programs. They do perform better, however, I am very happy with the single processor programs. I doubt I will ever own or write a Deep program, but I am glad they are there.
