Yes, and you have obviously failed to consider what role the hardware plays in a
chess program _and_ the specifics of the hardware we're discussing (Hammer).

The highest-latency memory in a Hammer system will be no slower than all the
memory in an Intel system. So if you "just throw an algorithm onto" a Hammer
system, it will almost certainly run faster than an Intel system. So unless your
performance is unreasonable on Intel (?), you CAN expect reasonable performance
on a Hammer and you are not REQUIRED to do anything to get it.
