I'm afraid I've taken after my favourite cat, Garfield, and am not up to the challenge. I was thinking that anyone who thought this was a good idea would post such accomplishments of chess programs vs humans here on this site. I would keep a copy of the postings then generate a list. It may sound silly to some but a new generation of computer chess fans can have written access to these events while they are still lingering in our memories. It wouldn't be a comparison of this accomplishment was better than that one - just a chronological one of computer chess accomplishments. I see one obstacle in that programmers might feel they are bragging about their programs but that couldn't be further from the truth. If some programs have achieved notable results against humans go ahead and share it. Some programs may have more such achievemnts but those will most likely be because they have been programming longer. >I believe that the first time a micro beat a (human) master was at the 1983 US >Open Championship in Pasadena, California, where Super Constellation beat J >Simon. >My source is David Levy's "Computer Chess Compendium," page 417. > OK I've cut and pasted your Super Conny info. Who knows, if this takes off maybe I'll get my 12 year old son to help me make a web page that includes hi-lights of chess computer vs humans. >Best wishes, >Roberto
