Ernie, Even if the processor is twice as fast it will only result in a 50 to 75 point ELO increase. This is not always true. Get the fastest and least expensive computer but don't skimp on the quality of the motherboard or the memory. If you are not even an expert at chess it won't matter unless you want to use your machine to solve problems. Hell, I can't beat MChess 8.0 on my PII 333Mhz.
