I don't think Smirin is playing particularly good anti-computer chess overall. On move 17 (IIRC) he could have closed the position with c4 instead of cxd4 and avoided getting an arguably losing position. He chose to go the risky route, which may be noble but very nearly cost him the game. IMHO, for the second game in a row, Smirin completely underestimated the computer's abilities. His world-class comeback yesterday is a great testament to his resourcefulness but you can't rely on that kind of thing to work every time you get into a bad position. Again IMHO, Smirin is NOT playing like somebody who has proper respect for what the computer can do (perhaps because he had winning positions in each of the first 3 games?).
