no need for that; like you once said, no need to be a good chess
player in order to make a swell program; probably even a lousy
Otb chess player like myself could beat you in standard
(rating Kec, about 1500+ on Icc (*) )

good question; a program as MSCP, on which my controversial
engine (remember the CCT4 discussions?) 'Djenghis' was based,
claims to look only 4 ply deep, but the quiscence is some
sort of a/b See function (still working on that for Dj..).
PS (*) but playing a lot with Djenghis in gambit style probably
will improve my chess i guess; but then, like i said, it
won't improve my programming skills :)
(no wonder Diep, even after a lot of help from the Dutch
computer chess goeroe Jan Lowman still (despite
all VD's claims about the built in chess knowledge only
seems to perform well in bullet (probably because of its
relatively fast hardware, i guess, but even then, one would
presume it would also perform better in blitz/standard; probably
VD overlooks something, being such a genius programmer..)
