Maybe it will be very soon. But maybe not. Look at the time it took between
Hiarcs 7.32 and Hiarcs 8 -- two years. Is the increase in strength between
Hiarcs 7.32 and Hiarcs 8 what you'd expect from two years of waiting? A long
time between releases of a program do not necessarily mean a large quantum leap
in strength. In fact, large quantum leaps in strength are just about
impossibile barring the inception of some fantasic fundamental new idea in chess
programming.

It may very well be two years before we see Chess Tiger 15.0 and the increase in
strength will be about the same interval difference there is between the Hiarcs'
programs.

Another way of looking at is to imagine that there never was a Fritz 6 or a Deep
Fritz. Let's say that after I think Jan. 1999 with the release Fritz 5.32 there
were no further Fritz's until Nov. 2001 or so with the release of Fritz 7. It
would be called Fritz 6, of course, and let's imagine that this imaginary Fritz
6 is exactly the same as what currently is Fritz 7. Is the increase in strength
between Fritz 5.32 and the current Fritz 7 worth nearly three years of waiting?
Fritz 5.32 is weaker than Fritz 7, no doubt, but it is still no slouch!

The fact that a Fritz 6 and Deep Fritz existed in the time between Fritz 5.32
and Fritz 7 tends to give the illusion that the program is increasing in
strength more rapidily than what it is actually doing.
