This is not abnormal.  For a mate in 8, crafty will use the normal time limit
unless it reaches depth 15 and finishes it.  That guarantees that it will find
the shortest mate, rather than stopping early after finding a longer one.

No idea.  I can't reproduce here.  Sounds like the fritz gui is doing something
odd...

nalimov has nothing to do with this position.  This isn't a 3-4-5 piece ending
at all.  This is a mate found by the search.  You will get the same mate scores
without the tables at all...
