The Chessbase programs (Fritz & Junior are the ones I have) have a key feature that I haven't seen elsewhere: "Promote Line". When you have a game score with variations and sub-variations, it seems essential to be able to promote a sub-variation to a variation and even a variation to the main line. (Doing this demotes the one you replaced.) Is this feature available in any other chess GUI for Windows? Mac? Pocket PC? Palm? (Does anybody else even agree that this is a KEY feature to have??) I don't find myself ever using the Chess Partner or Classic Shredder interfaces simply because they lack this feature (I also like being able to expand and contract the number of variations that show up in parallel). Couldn't other GUIs' programmers add this one feature without too much difficulty?
