The same info, slightly reformatted:

How to set up Crafty and Winboard:

1. Download Winboard.

2. Install Winboard.

3. Download Crafty18.13.exe from Prof. Hyatt's site.

4. Download book.bin and books.bin from Prof. Hyatt's site.

5. Create new folder on the C:/ drive. Call it krafty.

6. Put Crafty18.13.exe, book.bin, and books.bin into it.

7. Go into folder krafty, create text file Crafty.rc in wordpad, include the
following:
hash 24M
hashp 10M
cache 4M
drawscore=9
log off
book on
book random 1
book width 4
bookw freq 0.3
learn 7
resign 9

8. Download Crafty.doc; it will explain all these entries and how to change
them. (That's for later; first you have to get things running right.)

9. Open Winboard startup dialog box.

10. Delete in first box "gnuchess".

11. Type in exactly as below.
"wCrafty-18.13.exe"/fd="c:/krafty"

12. In secound box delete "gnuchess".

13. Type exactly as below.
"wCrafty-18.13.exe"/sd="c:/krafty"

Note: wCrafty-18.13.exe is the name of the executable on Hyatt'ss site. (Blue
Windows box.)

Note: All the rest is the location of the executable.

Note: fd is first device, sd is secound device.

Note: This works pretty much with all Winboard engines, but remember there are
exceptions.

Note: Don't use more than 2/3 of memory for hash. This works for most Winboard
engines.
