... about checkers, you should know that there are a ton of variants.  But the
two most popular, in a way, are the British/American 8x8 checkers, which Chinook
pretty much rules, and so-called International checkers, which is played on a
10x10 board.

In the latter I think the human GM's are still superior.  A while ago there was
a match between an African GM Samb and a top program called Buggy.

  If you check the results you can see that Samb won.  Of course, there are not
enough results to say anything for sure, but at least there are no results where
the programs have won against the very best palyers.

  These games differ not only in board size but in other rules having to do with
captures and promotion to kings.
