To be honest, I thought that the format was developed to provide a standard for
computer programs, not for humans.

And in reality, I hardly read the PGN. I copy and paste it in my chess programs
- again - because I thought *that* was the objective of the portable game
notation standard.
Readability is no added value, it's just a nice incidental.

Most game formats are unreadable in text format. Take a look at ChessBase's CBH
in a word processor, but does anyone consider *this* to be a problem?
