For a specific engine, it may depend on the position. Crafty's analysis showed a
big fail high - and at that depth, it would most probably find the idea, with or
without the help of king safety scores. But from the information presented, we
don't know, if with different KS scores it would not find the move a depth
earlier. My engine (see my other post in this thread) found the move first based
on positional reasons, and only later showed the big fail high. So, for my
engine you are certainly right - the positional scores did help to steer in the
correct direction, and the move was found earlier. So, I think you are right!
