Chris, Is that USB 1.x or USB 2.0 ? The latter has a data throughput of 480 Mbit/sec which is fast enough. In order to use USB 2.0 in and older machine you need to get a USB 2.0 add-on card for $30-40.00 US. Most older computers use the USB 1.x which is only 12 Mbit/sec. If you have one machine that is USB 2.0 and the other USB 1.x then you will be limited to the slower speed. As far as I know there would be no problem using a USB cable to link one USB port to the other. If you use USB 2.0 then you need a USB 2.0 cable.
