Take a look at Fischer's life. He played when his demands were met. He never
didn't play because he was scared of losing. He believed he was the best player
in the world (and rightly so). He believed he was the best player in the world
from well before the age of 10 until (probably) today.

If he was afraid of losing, he probably wouldn't have attempted a world
championship run. He was up against some pretty stout competition. Some of the
best ever.

While I personally share your belief that Kasparov might have been able to knock
Fischer off when his time came around 10-15 years later, I'm not so sure about
Karpov. I think it would have been a good match, and a Karpov win wouldn't have
shocked me, but I believe Fischer would have been the likely winner, and by no
means was Karpov so drastically superior to everyone else in the world to
accomplish something that no one else had done before, put fear into Bobby
Fischer.

If you want to bring out some facts and start backing up what you're saying,
then perhaps we can discuss this. But if you (and others) are only going to
speculate as to what might have happened with no real evidence or information to
backup what you are saying, then I don't see much point in discussing the issue
since it's not based in reality at that point.

As far as I can tell, when you bring in the evidence, your statement seems
silly. If you'd like to show me I'm wrong, please do.
