There is also great interest Shogi.
Yesterday there was the 12th World Computer Shogi Championship.
56 teams competed.
Unfortunately the games are not broadcast live as in chess.
I do not think endgame databases play as much a role in shogi as in chess
because of the rule that captured pieces can reenter the game.
