do you have an idea WHY the germans have these faible for chess ?

whenever in a television show somebody makes a contest fighting with his
talents against somebody else talents, most often in germany the KNOWLEDGE guy
wins against the ACTION guy. i guess in other countries it could be different.

but why ?

why do the germans believe knowledge and brain or education is more important
than any other thing ??
