Hirsch and ChrisW are obvious, Hirsch stopped programming chess and joined NASA
for the money.

ChrisW started programming other games like Shogi and then sold his business,
for the money.

Lang stopped upgrading Genius, but then made a comeback when the Palms came out,
for the money.

Do we see the key three words here:

"For The Money*

There is only a small marketshare available now. ChessMaster has the mass
market, ChessBase has the majority of serious chess players. Then there is all
the amateur games, which most of us cannot beat anyway.

Computer chess is a maturing market now, there just isn't much room to make
money at it !!
