Subject: A challenge! (CPU vs CPU)

Ok, so it's time to put this old horse out to pasture.........

First and foremost, let me state that I _do_ believe that AMD is the current
"king" of CPUs. They offer great performance, at a reasonable price. However,
there seems to be this delusional thinking, that anyone who buys a P4 is a
complete moron, and should be immediatly flamed for thinking it's a half decent
CPU. Therefore..........

I am going to BUY a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW, P4 2.53Ghz machine.

I currently own a dual AMD 1.73Ghz machine. Benchmarks against my machine are
not a problem. I encourage ANYONE out there who would like to challenge this
machine, to try.

HOWEVER:

1.) Chess is NOT the only program that runs on the computers of the world. If
we're going to compare apps, let's compare apps. Benchmarks, test suites,
whatever. I will test whatever engine you'd like, but that's NOT going to be
the basis of the challenge.

2.) Don't try to compare some Dr. Jeykl computer to a computer running stock
speeds. If you want to compare IT MUST BE AIR COOLED. (Yea, this is for YOU
Aaron!)

3.) I GUARANTEE, the new P4 will beat anything out there, in overall
performance.

If you think this is the part where I say, "..anyone who can beat it, wins it.."
you're nuts. Maybe some other time. I will however, buy whoever can prove to
me that they have a CPU that is BETTER overall than this 2.53Ghz, a copy of your
favorite chess program (that would be, THE FIRST PERSON). ;)

We are not comparing price, clock speed, this, that, or the other thing. We're
comparing ONE thing. Performance.

Good luck. :)
