I'd try to contact the author (of the fonts) and ask him for permission.

For example the piece sets in PocketGrandmaster are based on fonts by
Armando Marroquin and he gave us permission to use them. In case you
also plan to use his fonts and you manage to contact him, please let me
know - some time ago I tried to contact him again and his email-addresses did
not seem to be working.
