I just compared Athlon XP1700+ and expensive Pentium-IV 1800 with a lot of RDRAM memory. I was shocked when found that Tiger was 40%! faster on Athlon system. I went to motherbored BIOS and set most speed aggressive settings for Pentium-IV system. Dufference became 30%. So for Tiger you should have Pentium-IV 2,4GHz system to have the same speed as Athlon XP 1700+. The difference can be less for another programs. But I have no doubt more that AMD based systems are much better for chess. Victor
