I've compiled some links about Opteron (previously Hammer) If this CPU is available before Kramnik-Fritz then Chessbase should compile DeepFritz in 64 bits mode for the opteron ! In some month we will see a big jump (2*2200+ to 8*3400+) in elo on chess servers (ICC, chessbase,...) where incredible, fast and expensive machines appears soon before they're available ! A unofficial roadmap about AMD products (you can see 4400+ CPU for next year) http://www.amdnow.ru/faq/roadmap.shtml An interesting article about opteron : http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=176 All official details about opteron : http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_4699,00.html Official roadmap from AMD (there you can see that 8-way is supported) : http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_608,00.html
