I've mostly viewed chess as a fight as competitors in sports. It sure seems to draw heightened spectator appeal when a pre-arranged match is announced. Some feedback from Rebel-Anand from this board and Ed's chat room suggest that the tournanment time controls of 40/2 are of more interest. That is my feeling too. I think these standard long time controls help us viewers to appreciate the game more as we can have time to guess moves and to check what our programs are considering. Another GM I'd like to see play is the winner of Aegon 1997, Kosashvilli. Judging from his excellent play in that event it looks as though he has played more than a few games against computers. In my view there is absolutely nothing for either the human player or the programmer to lose. I can't think of any grandmaster who would frown upon a fellow GM losing to a machine. Also if the machine loses it will provide programmers with an insight into there own program.
