CM8000 was winboard-compatible, and CM9000 will be also. CM9000 will not be UCI
compatible (which should answer your last question).

It is really unknown how many people will be on CMLive. The ORIGINAL Chessmaster
Live had as many as 700+ people on at a time. But, yes, the MPlayer
implementation was very poor, with only a few dozen people on at a time.

That isn't very important to us. It is a feature that always gets brought up at
the initial design meetings, and then is always put on the "back burner".

There are also going to be a few new 2D boards/pieces, but not very many. You
will be able to rotate the 3D board to a 2D orientation, and there are many
"flat" 3D piece sets designed for that purpose.
