In reality Hiarcs 8 should be more on a par with other Chessbase engines than the previous version 7.32. It searches well enough when matched at standard time control, and it could even end up on top of the SSDF rating list. Some people when they get their new program begin to test them on fast time control and expect all the programs to perform as well as Fritz, but if you want to get a better estimate of a new program, then you must test it using the same time control as the SSDF, and you should be using a computer similar to the one used by the SSDF. At this moment I'm using an AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz and I started testing HIARCS 8 against Shredder Paderborn, it is doing just great against the winner of the previous SSDF rating list. Pichard.
