The same thing happened to my father and I when we went to Italy. My ancestors
are from the Italian Riviera region (Genovese). We were visiting some relatives
and one of them had a Sicilian girlfriend (with fiery red hair, no less!). Well,
we had her speak some Sicilian-Italian, and we couldn't understand a single
word.

So, I understand your frustration....

However, Ubi Soft is planning on translating (to some degree) the next version
of Chessmaster into several languages. Unfortunately, I have no idea WHICH
languages and I have no idea WHEN they will be released (or, if at all). What I
EXPECT will happen is that all of the text will be translated (still an immense
job) and all of the audio will remain in English. For the Josh Games (which do
not have any corresponding text to read -- it's just Josh's voice) we will
probably have a "subtitles" window that shows the translation. Unfortunately,
this might even be more annoying, because you are going to have to read the text
and follow the board at the same time.

We'll see what happens. But, in the meantime, it's going to be "just Josh" for
the next version. However, most feedback we have received regarding Josh's
delivery has been positive, as people feel that he sounds more "human". I guess
this means that he doesn't sound like what the average user would expect (i.e.
some "stuffy Grandmaster" :-)
