Of course. I don't think that anyone's debating that g4 is a *slower* win, but
that g4 throws the win away.
1) g4?(no doubt) kb4
2) kc2
2) .... kc5
kc3 is easy for white
So the question is
2).. ka3
3) kc3 ka2
Now..
4) b4 ka3
5) a5 ka4
6) kc4 ka3
7) kc5 ka4
8) a6! ka3
9) kc6 ka4
10) kb7 k*b5
11) Kxa7
And the a-pawn queens quickly.
I think if you account for the kingside tempii moves, this ends up being >20 ply
with various king trianguilations, so i guess the computer can't easily see it?
