This message may be somewhat lengthy. Please bear with me. I was really into computer chess in the early to mid 1980's. Then I got a new job, got busy with other things and dropped out of the computer chess world for the last 12 year. Now I'm back and I have a lot of questions. First, In 1985, I bought a Mephisto Exclusive chess computer from ICD with the Amsterdam Module. At the time, it was touted as being master strength. Hindsight has shown it was not quite there. I am attempting to upgrade my board to be able to run the Genius 2.0 modules. The Amsterdam module is a 68000/12MHz machine. The Genius 2.0 is a 68030/33MHz machine. Can anyone give me the specifics of doing this upgrade. As you probably know, the Mephisto company is defunct. I have talked with Bob Marzano who used to do this upgrade for Steve at ICD and he said that faster octal latches need to be installed on the interface board. He couldn't remember the specific part numbers. Does anyone know what chips need to be installed? Also, I don't know what the power supply requirements are, ie voltage, current etc. I am also looking for a users manual for these modules. I am an electrical engineer, so I think I can do the mods if given sufficient information. I would greatly appreciate any help that you can give me in this endeavor.
