I am sure that most of you are running your chess software on various configurations of PC's, with the fastest I am aware of being 400MHz Pentium II's. I want to let you know there is something much faster out there. But it is a Mac! I am running a G3 Mac at 310MHZ with a 1Meg backside cache also running at 310MHz. Byte Magazine has a benchmark utility which will run on both PC's and Macs called Bytemark. My machine gives benchmark values more that double the 300MHz P2 I have at work. This means that it should be significantly faster than even a 400MHz P2. I have not had time to do any testing with HIARCS 6.0 on my Mac, but I will be curious to see how strong it is on a machine this fast. Has anyone had any experience using a G3 Mac with HIARCS 6.0?
