Part of the problem is that many of the people who initiate threads there hold
an extreme view on their particular subject. Think about it. Is the person who
has "middle of the road" views on most things (which is most people) going to
start up threads attacking religion or attacking atheism or some race or
nationality. It's mostly extremists on both ends arguing with the other.

It's like religious debates about evolution between a Christian pastor and a
science professor from a university who believes in evolution. Neither of them
are going to convince the other of anything. Their views are set in stone before
anything ever begins. It's the same thing in CTF. Pretty much everyone that
reads and participates in it has views that are already set and aren't going to
change a whole lot. So it's basically just like a couple of little 5 year olds
in a yelling match IMO.

Occasionally you get some legitimate posts from someone with a question about
science or philosophy or something, but most of it is not this kind of stuff,
and it's done in an attacking style, which just generates attacks in reply.

I used to read and post some, and after a few weeks I realized that I was doing
nothing but running in circles, posting the same things about religion every
day, getting the same responses, and in the end I just ended up getting my
feathers ruffled and it just made my day start off negative. So I stopped
reading it. I think many others have a similar view of it, but maybe it's just
me.

Like most things in life, it can be used for good and bad, and it's not innately
bad in itself, but...you know.
