An Athlon XP 2100+ or a Pentium IV 2.4 running at time control of
120'/40+60'/20+30' will produce a similar performance than my athlon 1.2 Ghz at
time control of 120'/30+120'/30+30' since from the first 10-20 moves of the
first 40 it is generated by the Opening Book, but if you take a closer look at
the 2nd time control it is 4 minutes per move, Plus most of the endgame it is
taken care by the TB. Therefore, the important part of the time control is the
2nd . Even if the speed of the processor is twice on an AMD XP 2100+ it is NOT
really performing twice faster.
