It's something right on the edge of doable. It is very, very difficult to make a computer chess program play excellent chess. Therefore, it is a great challenge to write one. Also, because [for the most part] they are so very good, it is a challenge to play them. We can't afford to have GM's analyze our games. Computers work for a few cents worth of electricty. Computer chess programs will sometimes make stunning moves in the same way that GM's do. This makes their games very compelling. Computer chess programs will also blunder in a humorous way. This also makes their games compelling. Computers do not get annoyed with us. Yet another reason to like using them as an opponent.
