It is certainly possible (and actually rather probable) that the engine in
CM9000 will be stronger than all previous versions of Chessmaster. It is also
certainly POSSIBLE that it will be stronger than all other engines as well. As
for the likelihood of that latter statement, it's anybody's guess.

Neither can I. ;-)

It depends on what level you are already. There are about 20 hours of annotated
games by Josh Waitzkin, and about another 15+ hours of audio tutorials (plus
many quizzes/puzzles/drills/exercises that have no audio accompaniment).
However, a good portion of this is designed for beginner/intermediate players.
So, depending on your current strength, any amount of it might not be of any
interest to you.

There is also in-game audio analysis, with synchronized visual cues on the board
(pieces moving, arrows, highlighted squares, etc.) that is based on the analysis
from The King engine.

In CM9000 there will be over 150 different "personalities" ranging from
terrible to GM-strength. And, if none of these suit you, you can create any
number of personalities yourself. You should definitely be able to find a
computer opponent who gives you a good game but is still beatable.
