Hiarcs 8 vs. Fritz 7 - 405 Games - Blitz 5'+5" Engine Match Athlon 750, 384MB RAM, 32MB Hash, Fritz 7 GUI (Jan 02, 7.0.0.6 Fritz 7 engine and Jan 02 F7 GUI) Each program used its own book, tournament setting, default engine and book settings with book learning. Most, but not all, 3, 4 and 5 man tablebases (5.5 Gigs of tablebases) Typical Performances: F7 - 12.5 ply, 399 kN/s H8 - 11.0 ply, 101 kN/s Results: F7 - 226.5/405 +168, -120, 117 draws - 56% H8 - 178.5/405 +120, -168, 117 draws - 44% Probably just a statistical anomaly, but H8 edged F7 in the last 105 games 53.5/105. As a result of the comments here re H8's book, and possible effect of which GUI is used, I am running another 5'+5" H8 v F7 engine match in H8 GUI with H8 using the Chessbase Fritz Powerbook 2002 opening book using tournament setting. Games available upon request in Chessbase format, cbv file. Christopher
