1. You should e-mail these notes to Gurevich immediately, so he can improve his game to your level while there's still time! No, this would help him to improve to at least Junior7 level. Surely he is stronger than his play in this game. If not, I doubt he intends to study to raise his level of play against programs. 2. It's hard to believe how much he missed! I thought he did miss loosing his pawn at b2. 3. How could anyone be so ignorant as to dare to play 1.c4? against a computer program in this day and age? This GM made his choice of c4 look terrible. what was his plan with c4? when GM played last book move, what was his plan? c4 is risky for someone to play against a stronger player, that knows c4 and its variations. and this game proves it. 4. Certainly, the fact that he lost should open his eyes to the truth -- after all, this how is the programs "learn", and we should all emulate them. Well said! Since the programs have gotten stronger with stronger hardware, and program improvements, we have seen that some GM do ok against other GM of their level. But against programs, some GM have a difficult time when taken out of their normal style of play. and we expect this to all get worse for the GM as improvements are made. I watched one of the worlds top GM lose several games in a row to crafty on ICC. Yes you are correct in saying that this same GM could go back and study his play against crafty, see if improvements can be made. see were he made his mistakes. this way the GM can "learn" also. programs are like GM's, they have their weaknesses. kburcham
