He didn't lose un panw , he exchanged the b5 pawn for the b2 pawn
A 1800 play see when he takes on b5 then the opponent can take on b2, so imagine
a player 800 points higher !!!

Such match means <1% of the income for a professionnal player like Gurevich,
it's easilly understandable that he don't make big effort to change his style
