Hi Terry,

I had problems at first also.
First off, you don't have to make a FOLDER, just a file. So in step 1 when you
go Menu>File>New.....Just type in Openings book in the file name window, and
click onto save.

Now in step 2 you go into edit>opening book>Import Old book and then select the
H8.hbk file. I then went to the bottom of the window where it says "files of
type. Click onto the arrow (for the drop down menu)and I selected Hiarcs books.
I then clicked onto the open button. After 5 minutes or so it was done.
Your new book will be named Openings book, you will aslo have your original
Hiracs book. You will now have either one to use if you like.

When I first tried the install by making a Folder it took almost 20 minutes to
go thru it's cycle, only to find that I still only had the original Hiarcs book
and nothing had changed.

I tried it again the proper way I had mentioned and it went thru but there was
ONE PROBLEM, I did not see any percentages in the opening book window when using
the program.
At that point I uninstalled my Hiarcs book which was from the CD, and also
deleted any new H8.hbk files I found in my Book Folder.
I then reinstalled my Hiarcs 8 book from the CD. I then installed the H8.hbk
from my download back into the Book Folder.
Then I went thru the process correctly as mentioned above. Now the percentages
show, when using the the New book I made called "Openings book".

I will say this however, I don't see any improvement in it's results when
running an engine tournament against Fritz 7. It seems to get better results
from it's CD Book. I haven't really played enough games to tell though.

I hope this helps you in any way.
Also, if any one out there thinks I may have done something incorrectly, please,
please, let me know.
Regards
Brian Katz
