Is there a memory leak with Fritz 7 when accessing tablebases? I'm running W98se/IE6 on a Celeron 500 processor, 256 MB RAM, with 128 MB assigned for hash tables and Tablebase CacheSizeKB=8192. My tablebases are on a dedicated hard drive partition D, my windows and Fritz installations on hard drive partition C as usual, with lots of free space on partition C (8 GB+). It works fine ordinarily with no unusual hard drive activity. However when there is an elementary endgame with lots of tablebase access, the hard drive starts to churn constantly. Then eventually after several minutes or hours of analysis, my system slows down considerably. It doesn't freeze the system but everything becomes very slow to respond. The only way to recover normal system response is apparently to reset the computer. It certainly makes multitasking difficult. Is this normal behavour? WP
