There are a few things that try to send information to Microsoft in case of an error (so they can hopefully fix it if it's a common thing) or update your computer automatically with critical security updates and such (which is also generally a good thing). Installing _any_ operating system on a laptop can be a nightmare. Unless you're completely sure what you're doing, I wouldn't even try it.
