Prior to HIARCS 8's release, Chessbase took this smaller 36MB book and merged
many GM games to make a bigger book, but unfortunately, it changed the
probabilities of moves being played to such an extent a number of poor 'do not
play' moves were enabled! This means that although the H8 CD book is big it is
not optimized and has many weak moves which can be played.

The converted book is smaller and narrower than the other books but it is
stronger generally speaking. This is essentially what was disclosed on the
Chessbase website, but I feel it wasn't clear that besides the CD book being
quite wide, it also has confused weighting. For computer vs. computer play, you
will find the upgrade book is a better choice.
